The crime action film "The Roundup" has surpassed the 3-million-viewer mark in just five days after its release on May 18.

The flick drew about 3.55 million viewers as of Sunday, according to the Korean Film Council, scoring the biggest opening week among Korean films since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

It also became the second-fastest Korean film to reach the mark after the Oscar-winning "Parasite," which did so in four days after its release in May 2019.

"The Roundup," the sequel to the 2017 hit "The Outlaws," added some 1.04 million viewers last Saturday alone. It is the first time in about three years for a domestic film to sell 1 million tickets in a single day since "Parasite" sold about 1.127 million tickets on June 1, 2019.

The film, starring Ma Dong-seok and Son Suk-ku, revolves around a police detective who heads to a foreign country to extradite a suspect and a vicious killer who commit crimes against tourists for money.
