Singer-turned-actress Kim Se-jeong has established herself as a queen of romantic comedies after stealing the hearts of viewers in her latest hit TV series, "Business Proposal," which wrapped up last month.

The rom-com could easily have become a cliché, dealing with the love between an office worker and her boss as a modern version of the classic Cinderella story, but it was turned into a compelling romantic drama thanks to the great on-screen chemistry between the main leads.
Kim plunged into acting, taking on a lead role from the beginning with her first TV series "School 2017," after making an appearance in Mnet's audition show "Produce 101" in 2016, which later allowed her to build a singing career as a member of girl groups like IOI and Gugudan.
Despite not spending the usual amount of time doing understudy or supporting roles, Kim's seemingly risky start has been rewarded with the huge popularity of "Business Proposal," which was just the fourth TV series of her acting career.
"I'm thankful for achieving good results -- but I did my best. I know hard work doesn't always pay off, and expectations will be high for my next project, but I'm not stressing over it too much and I will continue to work hard," Kim said. Asked what "Business Proposal" means to her, she said, "I think the series gave me fresh momentum to further enhance my acting career in my late 20s."
Asked about how she replenishes her energy when she's worn out, she said, "Earlier, when things didn't go well, I was always telling myself it was because I didn't work hard enough. There were also times when I wondered why I couldn't relax. But now I take time to reflect, and try not to worry too much." She added, "When I feel exhausted from my work, I try to switch off and catch up with friends around me to share the ups and downs of everyday life."
Kim is preparing for her next project, "Today's Webtoon," which is scheduled to begin airing on SBS in late July. In the series, which deals with youngsters striving to pursue their dreams, Kim plays a former judoka who struggles to adjust to her new job as a webtoon editor.
