A global electric car race dubbed Formula E is coming to Korea in August for the first time.
Seoul won the bid to host the event in 2019, but the race organized by the International Automobile Federation was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With the full support of the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the race will take place from Aug. 10 to 14. It is virtually silent except for the noise of the tires on the road and produces almost no pollution, unlike the ear-shattering Formula One events.
Spectators can watch 22 cars race around a 2.6 km track at a speed up to 230 km an hour around Jamsil Stadium.
