Singer AleXa, who is of Korean descent, on Monday won the American Song Contest, the U.S. answer to Eurovision.
NBC's music competition features contestants representing all 50 U.S. states, five territories and Washington, D.C.
AleXa represented her home state of Oklahoma.
She was born to a Korean mother, who was adopted in the U.S. as a child, and a Russian-American father.
She won a K-pop audition in the U.S. in 2017 and made herself known in Korea after appearing on Mnet's audition show "Produce 48" in 2018. She made her K-pop debut in 2019 and has since been working actively both here and in the U.S.
