The city of Paju in Gyeonggi Province, which sits close to the border with North Korea, on Wednesday resumed tours of the demilitarized zone after a more than two-year pause due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Third Tunnel and the Mt. Dora Observatory are open to 40 people per tour with other sites to follow.
There will be six tours a day on weekdays except for Mondays and 12 a day on weekends.
The tunnel is the third of four underground tunnels secretly dug by the North that were discovered by the South along the DMZ. It was discovered in 1978, and, at 1,600 m in length, is estimated to be large enough for 30,000 North Korean soldiers to pass through in an hour.
