Thunderstorms will rake the parched country on Monday and Tuesday, beginning with southern regions on Monday night.
Until Tuesday, up to 50 mm of torrential rain will fall on Jeju Island, 20 to 70 mm of rain in Chungcheong provinces and southern regions, and 5 to 40 mm in the capital area and Gangwon Province, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
But the clear and sunny weather will resume on Wednesday.
The rain will cool down temperatures and a drought warning for some regions will be lifted.
The KMA predicts that daytime highs will rise to between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius across the country on Monday, about 5 to 8 degrees higher than average, before the weather breaks.
