Actor Im Si-wan wrapped up his latest TV series on a high note.

"Tracer," which ended last month, tells the story of tax officials' efforts to trace tax delinquents’ hidden assets and investigate other financial offenses including money laundering.

In the series, Im plays a former accountant who once managed money for the wealthy but becomes a taxation official to avenge the death of his father.

"It wasn't easy for me to portray such an unfamiliar role, so I looked at the script over and over again to get used to it and was finally able to nail the role," he said in an interview shortly after the finale of the series. He even met with former National Tax Service officials to familiarize himself with their daily duties and work routines.

"The drama taught me that I need to take on challenges in order to feel a greater sense of achievement."

Im, a former member of K-pop boy band ZE:A, made his acting debut in "The Moon Embracing the Sun" in 2012, and solidified his acting chops in cable channel tvN's hit drama series "Incomplete Life" two years later.

"In choosing my next projects or taking my next steps, I will try not to be swayed by commercial success or popularity, as I want to make decisions I won't regret," he said.
