Pandemic Sees Number of Foreign Students in Korea Plummet

The number of foreigners traveling to Korea to study plunged by 80 percent last year compared to pre-coronavirus pandemic levels.

According to the Korea Tourism Organization, there were only 80,000 incoming foreign students in 2021, the fewest in more than a decade. Last year's number was some 118,000.

In 2019, before the pandemic, almost 376,000 foreigners visited Korea to study, hitting an all-time high, fueled by the growing popularity of Korean culture.
