President-elect Yoon Suk-yeol will not be inaugurated until May 10, but for the next two months he and his family will enjoy the same level of protection as outgoing President Moon Jae-in.
A designated security team including bomb detection and medical personnel will be on watch 24 hours a day. The president-elect's car as well as escort vehicles will be bulletproof, and when necessary, traffic signals may be switched for his convoy.

Yoon also has access to a safe house provided by the government and to a presidential airplane and helicopter if he travels overseas.
But because Yoon is not officially a public servant until he takes office on May 10, he will not get a governmental salary but can dip into a budget allocated to a presidential transition team to cover his expenses.
