Bangtan Boys Again Win Global Recording Artist of the Year Award

Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, have once again been named the Global Recording Artist of the Year by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.

The K-pop sensations became the first global act to win the honor for two consecutive years.

The IFPI, an organization that represents the recorded music industry worldwide, described the achievement as "a landmark moment for the recording industry." It added that BTS demonstrated a remarkable global appeal and their fanbase helped them to achieve the feat.

The award is based on an artist's or group's worldwide sales performance during the past year, including downloads, streams and physical sales. BTS first made the IFPI global artist chart in 2018, at No. 2.

The boys are set to perform a series of concerts for live audiences in Seoul next month.

The concerts will be their first live performances in front of Korean fans since October 2019.
