Lim Soo-jung Says Dramatic Take on Math Drew Her to New TV Series

Actress Lim Soo-jung says she chose her new TV project because she was intrigued by the way the melodrama explores the meaning of life through math.

She discussed her thoughts at a press event for cable channel tvN's "Melancholia" on Tuesday.

The series revolves around a math teacher who forms a close bond with a math prodigy over their shared love for the subject.

It is Lim's first TV drama in two years since she appeared in "Search: WWW" in 2019.

Lim said the title of the series caught her attention even before she read the script. "Looking at the title, I felt my heart drop, so I read the script very carefully and found the way it handles math as a subject matter so engaging and touching," she said. "It just shows so beautifully how we can understand the world and life through math and I was drawn to it and strongly wanted to be part of it."

The series is slated to begin airing on Nov. 10.
