Top actress Lee Young-ae said she was drawn back to the small screen after a four-year absence to appear in JTBC's new comedy thriller series because it is new to her despite her nearly 30-year career.
"Inspector Koo" revolves around an insurance investigator who probes a series of murder cases covered up as accidents. Lee plays the insurance investigator who was once a competent police officer but has turned into a recluse after her husband's death in a suspicious accident.
The series started airing on Saturday.
At a press conference for the series last week, Lee said she chose "Inspector Koo" because she felt it was "one of a kind."
"I really mean it. It was odd, unusual and funny. It just had a different feel about it than any other drama series," Lee said.
"Actors are constantly trying to show different colors that they don't even know they have. I thought I could do something I've never done before with 'Inspector Koo' because it was totally new to me," she added. "I felt it would be big fun filming the series, and that's what I was seeking, so I chose to grab the chance."
