Bangtan Boys Become 1st Asian Act to Be Nominated for Artist of the Year at AMAs

Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, have become the first Asian act to be nominated for Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards.

The boys are competing with pop artists such as Ariana Grande, Drake and Taylor Swift for the honor at this year's awards.

Aside from Artist of the Year they are up for Favorite Pop Duo or Group, while their hit all-English song "Butter" was nominated for Favorite Pop Song.

The nominees are selected based on factors including streaming, album sales, song sales and radio airplay.

The awards ceremony will be broadcast live from Los Angeles on Nov. 21.

BTS have collected awards at the AMAs for three years straight.
