Luxury labels can no longer keep up with demand from their Korean customers, whose appetite for overpriced bling never seems to wane.
Chanel said Sunday it will limit purchases of certain handbags to one per customer per year from this month. They include the popular classic flap and Coco handle flap bags. Some types of wallets are also being limited to one per customer per year.
Customers are still getting in line from the early morning hours in front of Chanel stores.
Hermès is also limiting handbag purchases per customer to two a year in case their designs are similar, and up to two for some shoes and jewelry in a day.
Meanwhile Chanel is hiking its prices yet again. It already increased them in February, July and September, and another hike is planned for next month as demand shows no sign of flagging.
