Volleyball star Kim Yeon-koung has announced her retirement from the women's national team, ending 17 years of international competition.
The Korea Volleyball Association said on Thursday that Kim relayed her decision to the sport's governing body.
In a statement, the 33-year-old star said it had been a great pleasure to represent her country, and thanked all the coaches and teammates who helped her along the way.
Her departure comes just days after Korea finished the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in fourth place, losing to Serbia in the bronze-medal match.
