Former Korean table tennis player Ryu Seung-min has been elected as vice chair of the International Olympic Committee's Athletes' Commission, the first Asian in the post.

Finnish ice hockey player Emma Terho was elected as its chair.

Ryu became a member of the Athletes' Commission in 2016.

"I will carry a strong sense of responsibility amid the COVID-19 pandemic which has made conditions tough for athletes around the world and make sure their voices are heard and represented," he said.
