Monsoon rains return with redoubled force on Friday after a brief lull.
The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted up to 100 mm of rain across the entire country, especially on Jeju Island and the southern coast of South Jeolla Province.
More heavy rain could cause mudslides in southern parts, where the soil has already been softened by earlier downpours.
Rains will likely continue sporadically over the weekend and abate on Monday, when the weather turns hot and humid. Temperatures are expected to soar above 30 in most parts of the country and over 33 degrees in Yangpyeong and Anseong, Gyeonggi Province.
The entire country will be hit by scorching heat and tropical nights until July 16, the KMA added.
