Young Japanese are enjoying simulated trips to Korea and other countries as lockdown has stopped travel.
A recent straw poll conducted by marketing firm SHIBUYA109 lab among 529 15-24-year-olds found a new leisure trend among them. They enjoy the simulated trips to Korea, which take them to a downtown hotel to gorge on Korean food and enjoy Korean TV shows and music together.
The #Going to Korea hashtag is also trending on Twitter and Instagram, where youngsters post selfies of enjoying Korean food and drinks and watching Korean soaps or K-pop concerts with friends.
The Tokyo office of the Korea Tourism Organization has recently introduced Korean fried chicken on Twitter as "a must-eat food" on a simulated trip to Korea.
