The annual chrysanthemum festival in Hampyeong, South Jeolla Province will welcome visitors who want to enjoy the beauty of the autumn flower this year after it was canceled last year due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Organizers said Thursday that the festival will be able to open in October as usual, as it is expected that 70 percent of the population will have had at least one vaccine shot by then.
A detailed plan, including whether to offer the festival both online and offline, will be announced next month.
The event, one of the country's most popular autumn festivals, will display various artworks made out of the flower. Some 1 million chrysanthemums in a variety of colors will decorate the 550,000 sq.m venue, Expo Park in the town.
