Coronavirus Self-Test Kits Fly off Shelves

A pharmacist displays coronavirus self-test kits in Seoul on Monday.

Coronavirus self-test kits have been flying off the shelves after they were approved for emergency use last month.

Some online reviewers said they found them easy and convenient, while others said they bought them just in case, as the coronavirus epidemic shows no sign of abating.

Some online malls are already out of stock but are still taking orders.

The process of testing from a swab takes about 30 minutes, much quicker than polymerize chain reaction (PCR) tests in hospitals that take about six hours, but the results are less accurate.

Health authorities have urged only people with respiratory symptoms to use the kits for preliminary diagnosis.
