Ryu hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays left the mound abruptly in the fourth inning of an away game against the Tampa Bay Rays in Florida on Sunday.

Although he looked fine, throwing three and 2/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts, he decided to leave the mound early after feeling a muscle twinge. Ryu signaled to the dugout with a grimace that he couldn't continue and was replaced by reliever Tim Mayza.

In a post-game interview, Ryu said he felt some discomfort in a muscle and wanted to make sure it didn’t develop into something more serious.

"I don't think it's an injury," Ryu said through a translator. "I guess I was less tense than I should have been. It's nothing serious and it's not something that I've felt before."

The club said Ryu suffered "a minor right glute strain."

The Blue Jays won the game 1-0.
