Kim Kwang-hyun of the St. Louis Cardinals turned in an outstanding performance in his first home start of the season against the Cincinnati Reds last Friday.
Kim threw five and 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and one run, and setting his major league career high with eight strikeouts.
Kim also recorded the very first hit of his entire professional career, off a curveball from Sonny Gray in the bottom of the third inning.
"I have this kind of stress going on that I have to be good," Kim told MLB.com after the game. "This season, I want to do [as] well as last season, so that made me pitch harder, and my expectations were high during spring training. I think that was the reason I kind of struggled."
