Kia on Tuesday unveiled the full specs of the high-performance EV6, its first electric car produced on a proprietary platform.

The EV6 is available in three versions -- the "standard," "long-range" and high-performance "GT" models. The GT model can go from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds. Kia published a picture of an EV6 GT coming second in a 400-m race against a Lamborghini, Ferrari and McLaren.

The long-range model comes with a high-capacity battery and can travel around 450 km on a single charge, compared to the Hyundai Ionic 5's 429 km. It can travel up to 100 km on a quick charge that takes just four minutes and 30 seconds.

A Kia staffer said, "The battery capacity is a bit larger than the Ionic 5, while the design is more aerodynamic."

The EV6 will hit showrooms in July. The standard will cost in the upper W40 million range, while the long-range will cost around W55 million (US$1=W1,135). Customers will be eligible for a tax discount of up to W3 million and a W12 million subsidy.

The GT model will hit showrooms in the second half of next year and will cost around W70 million.

Kia is taking pre-orders from Wednesday.
