A majority of young Koreans do not plan to have children, a survey suggests.
The Korean Women's Development Institute polled 4,715 men and women in their 20s and 30s who are single or have no kids and found that 52.8 percent do not plan to have them either.
The proportions were a clear majority of women with 57.8 percent and almost half of men with 48.5 percent.
As prerequisites for having children, women cited "active willingness of a spouse to help bring up the kids or equal distribution of household chores," while men ticked "financial ability to raise kids" and "professional or housing security."
