Things are looking promising for Ryu Hyun-jin of the Toronto Blue Jays ahead of the upcoming Major League Baseball season.

He ranked sixth on the MLB Network's list of the top 10 starting pitchers of the season, ahead of seventh-placed Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ryu pitched four scoreless innings in an exhibition game against the Detroit Tigers in Florida on Monday, allowing just two hits. He threw 49 pitches with no walks and four strikeouts.

"My first two games last season went badly, and I don't want to repeat that," Ryu said. "I want to be well prepared for the new season this year."

The Blue Jays have not yet decided who will start their season opener against the New York Yankees on April 1.

But Ryu is likely to take the mound. This will provide a test for him, as he was somewhat weak against the Yankees last season.
