The number of K-pop-related posts on social media Twitter exceeded 6.7 billion last year, up 600 million on-year.

An executive from Twitter said K-pop's popularity has actually grown despite the inability to hold offline concerts and fan meets due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The country tweeting the most about K-pop was Indonesia, followed by Thailand, Korea, the Philippines, the U.S. and Brazil. The most tweeted-about K-pop stars were Bangtan Boys, also known as BTS, followed by NCT, EXO and Black Pink.

Meanwhile, Black Pink's first-ever online concert attracted some 280,000 viewers from all over the world early this week, bringing in more than W10 billion in ticket sales (US$1=W1,118).

According to YG Entertainment, the largest number of viewers was in the U.S., followed by Thailand, the Philippines and Japan.
