U.S. President Joe Biden and President Moon Jae-in are likely to speak on the phone this week for the first time since Biden was inaugurated on Jan. 20.
A Cheong Wa Dae source said Sunday, "Working-level officials are in contact on a daily basis. We're trying to arrange a telephone call this week."
Biden has already spoken with the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Germany and Mexico as well as Russia and Japan.
But Cheong Wa Dae said content is more important than the timing. A key ruling party official said, "There's no need to hurry just because the leaders of the U.S. and Japan already talked on the phone. The U.S. side told us they need more time to prepare."
