Foreign Tourism Hits Historic Low

The number of foreign visitors to Korea is estimated to have been the lowest this year since Seoul hosted the Olympics in 1988.

According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Tuesday, 2.4 million foreigners landed in Korea between January and October, down a staggering 83.6 percent on-year. In 1988, 2.3 million foreigners visited the country.

The number of Koreans who traveled abroad decreased by 83 percent to 4.1 million.
