Korea's National Intelligence Service director, who is currently in Japan, is set to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

TBS reported Monday that Park Jie-won could meet Suga as early as Tuesday if the schedule can be arranged. Park would be the first high-ranking Korean official to meet with Japan's new prime minister.

On Sunday, Park met Toshihiro Nikai, the secretary general of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, and they discussed issues such as compensation for Korean victims of wartime forced labor in Japan.
