Income disparity is massive in Korea's lucrative pop music industry, with star power by far the most important factor determining earnings.
According to National Tax Service data on Monday, the top one percent of singers in Korea account for 53 percent of the total income in the industry.
The top 63 out of 6,372 singers who reported their incomes in 2018 earned an average of W3.4 billion each that year (US$1=W1,130).
