Actress Ha Ji-won's latest film "Pawn" drew over 1 million viewers in about 10 days following its release in time for Chuseok or Korean thanksgiving late last month.

According to the Korean Film Council, the film attracted some 1.07 million viewers as of Oct. 9, which is considered quite an impressive performance amid the recent resurgence of coronavirus.

The tearjerker, which also stars actor Sung Dong-il and Kim Hee-won, explores the true meaning of family through the story of two debt collectors who are offered a child as collateral and end up raising her.

Ticket sales peaked at 400,000 a day during the Chuseok holiday, but fell to less than half that level over the weekend.
