Exports Increase in September But Outlook Remains Grim

      September 22, 2020 10:52

Exports grew more than 3 percent on-year in the first 20 days of September.

The Korea Customs Service said Monday that the country's outbound shipments amounted to US$29.6 billion from Sept. 1 to 20, up 3.6 percent or $1.02 billion from the same period last year.

If this upward trend continues until the end of this month, it will be the first monthly rise in exports since February, when the coronavirus epidemic began to disrupt trade and production at home and abroad.

But the prospects are dim as average daily exports fell 9.8 percent on-year to $1.91 billion.
