Samsung has inked an W8 trillion deal for 5G equipment with Verizon of the U.S., the world's biggest telecom (US$1=W1,188).
Under the deal, Samsung will supply 5G communications equipment until December 2025.
The contract involves only a portion of Verizon's future 5G communications networks but plants a stamp of approval on the technology and security of Samsung's products.
It reaps the benefits of the U.S.' war on Chinese rival Huawei, which was blacklisted over security concerns last year.
The Korean giant has deals with several other countries to supply 5G equipment, including the U.S.' Sprint and AT&T, Japan's KDDI, Canada's Vidéotron and Telus, and Spark of New Zealand.
