Some 1,845 schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province went back to online teaching on Monday due to the resurgence of coronavirus.

High school seniors are increasingly worried that that is not good enough if they are to sit their university entrance exams as scheduled on Dec. 3.

In a meeting, Education Minister Yoo Eun-hae vowed to make the necessary preparations in cooperation with regional offices of education even if the entire capital region goes back into lockdown.

Some high schools are still teaching offline classes in rotation and ensure social distancing by keeping numbers in attendance at any one time to below two-thirds of the student body.

The university entrance exam was already rescheduled in April from November to Dec. 3, but now another postponement could be in the offing.

The ministry wants to avoid that but may have no choice if the epidemic continues.
