Impoverished N.Korea Boasts of 'Beautiful Streetlights'

North Korea's state media are making a desperate bid to talk up the backward state amid the privations of sanctions and the coronavirus epidemic.

The official Rodong Sinmun posted a night-time photo of Pyongyang on Thursday with the caption, "Beautiful streets of the capital overflowing with lights of happiness."

The photo does show buildings in the capital that have previously been darkened or dimmed due to power shortages, but this is unlikely to be their permanent state.
