Former U.S. Ambassador to Korea Mark Lippert has been hired as YouTube's public policy chief for the Asia Pacific region. His role there is to explain the policies of the online video-sharing platform to governments in the region.
Google, which owns YouTube, said Tuesday that Lippert has a high degree of understanding of the Asian region due to his extensive experience in the region.
Lippert became the youngest U.S. ambassador in Korea when he was assigned to the post in October of 2014.
He survived a knife attack by a fanatical anti-American in 2015, had two children here who were given Korean middle names, and is an avid fan of the Doosan Bears baseball team.
A political appointment, he resigned when his patron Barack Obama's presidency ended in 2017 and has since spent his time job-hopping.
