North Korean state media on Tuesday warned its people against the corrupting influence of foreign movies and western songs.
The official Rodong Sinmun, in a tirade worthy of deepest Stalinist times, in an editorial warned that "invisible enemies" are more threatening than visible ones and condemned the poison of bourgeois culture.

"Imitating even a single movie or song without a critical sense for entertainment will tarnish our national culture and cause the rotten bourgeois culture to spread," it thundered.
The aim seems to be to stiffen North Koreans' ideological spine and support of their leader amid growing economic hardship caused by international sanctions and the border lockdown due to the coronavirus epidemic.
