Subway passengers in Seoul will be required to wear masks in crowded trains to curb the spread of coronavirus after a resurgence of infections traced to nightclubs in the city's party district of Itaewon.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government said Monday that it will ban people without masks from subways when the proportion of passengers to train capacity exceeds 150 percent and people are packed shoulder to shoulder, starting from Wednesday.

But wearing masks is not mandatory when the figure is below 130 percent and there is enough breathing space.
Safety personnel will be dispatched on platforms to guide passengers during rush hours.
