Traffic increased nationwide over the weekend as the government eased lockdown rules after new coronavirus infections declined.

According to Korea Expressway Corporation, traffic volume on expressways amounted to around 4.72 million vehicles on Saturday and an estimated 3.4 million on Sunday.

Traffic increased six percent since the third weekend of April and 36 percent from the last weekend of February, when infections surged. But that is still 10 percent fewer than a year earlier.
