Kim Jong-un 'Critical After Surgery'

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is "in grave danger after a surgery," CNN reported Tuesday, citing an unidentified U.S. official "with direct knowledge."

"Kim recently missed the celebration of his grandfather's birthday on April 15, which raised speculation about his well-being," it added.

Kim has not missed the annual ceremonial event at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, where his father and grandfather lie embalmed, since he came to power in 2012.

The report came after speculation here that he has been getting medical treatment in a private villa in North Pyongan Province after urgent cardiovascular surgery.
