Hyundai and affiliate Kia are strating to suffer the fallout from the coronavirus outbreak in China.

Hyundai said Monday it sold only 1,007 cars in China in February, the worst performance ever and down a staggering 97.4 percent from the same month last year. Kia also sold only 972 cars there, down 95.6 percent.

The sales figures were the worst since they started manufacturing cars in China in 2003 and came as many factories sat idle due to the coronavirus epidemic.

Overall auto sales in the Chinese market fell 82 percent last month.

The two Korean automakers are still reeling from China's unofficial boycott of Korean products and services over the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense battery spat in 2017, and their factories there ran at only 40 percent last year.
