The Unification Ministry has called for "mutual respect" after a bilious attack from North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's sister.
The ministry said Wednesday the two sides should work together to establish "lasting peace" on the Korean Peninsula.
Kim Yo-jong, in her first-ever official statement issued the day before, had called the Cheong Wa Dae officials "complete morons" with an "imbecile way of thinking." he was responding to South Korea's criticism of the North's latest rocket-launcher test.

But inter-Korean relations are unlikely to improve soon considering that Kim was one of the few North Koreans that had in the past facilitated cross-border exchanges.
The Kims somehow seem to feel betrayed by the South because the North's last summit with the U.S. in Hanoi collapsed in February 2019.
