Korea Beats Japan to Win E-1 Football Championship

    Korea claimed its third consecutive E-1 Football Championship title on Wednesday after defeating Japan 1-0 in the final in Busan.

    It was Korea's fifth title overall in the biennial tournament organized by the East Asian Football Federation.

    Korea beat all three of its opponents -- Hong Kong (2-0), China (1-0) and Japan -- without conceding a single shot on goal.

    Midfielder Hwang In-beom of Vancouver Whitecaps, who also scored against Hong Kong, converted a pass from Kim Jin-su into the winning goal in the 27th minute.

    Japan wrapped up the tournament with a runner-up finish (two wins and a loss), followed by China (one win and two losses) and Hong Kong (three losses).
