American soldiers will be able to enjoy their nights out in Korea off base as U.S. Forces Korea permanently lifted its curfew for all troops from Tuesday.
In a statement, USFK Commander Gen. Robert Abrams said, "After assessing the curfew data and consulting with USFK leaders including component commanders, I decided to end the curfew."
He urged soldiers to keep "good order and discipline" at all times and added they have "a solemn responsibility to keep readiness at its highest levels."
The curfew from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. on weekends was imposed in December 2011 due to a spate of crimes committed by soldiers.
