Ex-President Park Geun-hye's toxic confidante Choi Soon-sil is suing JTBC anchor Sohn Suk-hee for defamation.
The bizarre move comes after the Supreme Court last month sent a bribery case involving her, Park and Samsung chief Lee Jae-yong back to the high court.
Last August, Choi was sentenced 20 years in prison for extortion, influence-peddling and meddling in state affairs while Park was in office.
Sohn's channel was instrumental in breaking the scandal with the discovery of a tablet PC belonging to Choi that contained incriminating evidence.
But Choi now claims that the tablet PC, which among other things contained masses of selfies of her, was not in fact hers, and continues to deny meddling in state affairs.
Back in October 2016, JTBC reported that Choi used the tablet PC to revise Park's speeches, which started off the meddling charge. That led to the discovery of other offenses, and the tablet soon became a minor aspect of the snowballing scandal that eventually forced Park from office.
Speaking through her lawyer, Choi said, "Contrary to the JTBC report, I've never used that tablet PC and did not correct speeches. I do not know how to use a tablet PC. Most importantly I was not a powerful figure who meddled in state affairs behind the scenes."
Park herself admitted during the affair that she gave Choi her speeches to revise, but the two women have since fallen out and are blaming each other.
Choi said, "JTBC claimed the National Forensic Service concluded that I was the owner of the tablet PC. But the NFS also said multiple users could have used it."
Sohn makes an easier target now than he did at the time because he has since come under a cloud for trying to bribe a freelance reporter who threatened to expose a minor fender-bender Sohn was involved in.
Last Tuesday, Choi also filed a defamation suit against Minjoo Party lawmaker An Min-suk, who accused her of still hiding much of her ill-gotten fortune somewhere.
