Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus will come to Korea next month for an exhibition friendly match in Seoul. The K-League said Wednesday that the Italian club will play the league's All-Star Game against a team of K-League stars at the World Cup Stadium in the capital on July 26.
It will be Ronaldo's first visit in 12 years. The Portuguese star last visited Seoul in 2007 for a friendly between Manchester United and Seoul FC when he was Park Ji-sung's teammate at the English Premiere League side.
Fans are eagerly awaiting to see how much time Ronaldo actually spends on the pitch. "Ronaldo is contractually obligated to appear. We can't reveal how long he will play, but it will be long enough to please the fans," a K-League official said.
Ronaldo said through the K-League, "I'm very happy to be back in Korea. I hope to make good memories with Korean fans."
In addition to Ronaldo, Juventus' star-studded lineup includes Mario Mandžukić of Croatia, Giorgio Chiellini of Italy and Paulo Dybala of Argentina.
Back in 1996, Juventus had a friendly against the Korean national team, which won the game. But the Italian club was without its main players at the time as they were resting after winning the UEFA Champions League.
