Korea lost to Ukraine 3-1 in the final of the event on Saturday and settled for the runner-up finish, but it was a result that nobody else had even dreamed of.

For many people in Korea, their performance in Poland was reminiscent of Korea's semifinal run at the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan. Across the country, large numbers of fans took to the streets to cheer for them.

The Korea Football Association said some 22,000 people gathered at the World Cup Stadium in Sangam-dong, Seoul on Saturday to watch the final match. Big screens were set up in various parts of the country so that people could gather and cheer for them.

It was the best result ever by a men's youth football team at a FIFA-hosted event, and many hope that their achievement heralds the beginning of a great new era in Korean football.
