Former president Lee Myung-bak has appealed against a 15-year jail sentence for corruption a district court passed earlier this month, his attorney Kang Hoon said Friday.
Lee was convicted of seven counts of embezzlement and corruption, including being the de facto owner of auto parts maker DAS, embezzling 24.6 billion from the firm for his own use, and taking W6.1 billion in U.S. legal fees from Samsung as a bribe (US$1=W1,134).
Prosecutors have already appealed the sentence, which they consider too lenient.
