Sweltering heat and tropical nights are poised to rob Koreans of sleep.
The Korea Meteorological Administration on Wednesday issued a heat wave alert for inland areas like Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, North Chungcheong Province, and Gangwon Province, meaning temperatures will not drop below 33 degrees Celsius for two or more days.

Temperatures of 34 to 35 degrees are forecast for Daegu, Daejeon, Gwangju, Jeonju, Pohang and Ulsan on Thursday, and 32 degrees for Seoul.
The humid heat will hang around for the time being and could turn into one of the longest heat waves on record, the KMA said.
Temperatures will not drop below 25 degrees all night in many parts of the country for the time being.
The first tropical night descended on some southern parts on July 2 and on Jeju Island on Tuesday.
