The Japanese government opens an exhibition hall in downtown Tokyo on Thursday to publicize its flimsy colonial-era claim to Korea's easternmost islets of Dokdo, local media reported Tuesday.
The hall opens in the Shisei Kaikan building, which sits in Chiyoda's Hibiya Park, a popular tourist attraction near the Diet.
It will promote Japan's territorial claims to Korea's Dokdo and the Senkaku or Diauyoutai Islands, which are disputed with China.
The hall is being set up after calls from rightwing politicians for better publicity for Japan's territorial claims. The Japanese government hopes to make it a must-see destination for school trips and intends to put on a variety of events and displays.
